One of the most heartwarming and wonderful things that has happened lately is the return of my friend Nic Goodson to Athens. If any of you know him, he's had his share of travail in the last few months and went home to Lubbock, TX for some down time to try and sort it all out.
He's back now and playing with as much fire as ever. After a few warmup gigs he debuted the new Sleepy Horses lineup at the Caledonia Lounge here last Friday night and rampaged his way though a most gratifying set.
His first solo gig back in town in March at the Mercury Lounge was a beautiful thing to witness. He was as nervous as a cat in a dog kennel, but played well, very well. Those of us at the gig gave him a standing ovation at the end of the show, to which he turned to me and said, "I don't know what to do".
My reply: "Just bask in it!"
Just like all of us bask in his great music and guitar playing. welcome back, brother!
